BLOG: Tuesday practice in Tampa

TAMPA, FL - After a travel day Monday, the Oilers hit the ice at Amalie Arena in Tampa on Tuesday to begin preparations for Wednesday's road trip opener against the Lightning.
The team suffered its first loss under Head Coach Jay Woodcroft on Sunday, 7-3 to the Minnesota Wild, and will look to regain their form from the five-game winning streak that preceded the defeat.

TALKIN BOUT PRACTICE
Edmonton's new bench boss expressed his appreciation for having a true practice day after the team played six games over the course of his first 10 days on the job.
"It was probably our second official full practice since we came in here," Woodcroft said of himself and assistant Dave Manson, who also joined Edmonton's coaching staff from AHL Bakersfield.
"It was nice to be able to put into practice things you're talking about, the ability to walk through something, to feel it, to work through some of the kinks. We got what we needed out of our group today."

WILD BILL BIRTHDAY
Oilers defenceman William Lagesson celebrated his 26th birthday on Tuesday and his gift has been earning more ice time recently playing on a pairing with Cody Ceci. The Swede has logged between 13:48 and 15:18 TOI over the last five games, raising his season average to 12:22 through 22 games.
"It feels good to get some confidence, a little bit more responsibility and a little bit more rhythm," said Lagesson, who was coached previously by Woodcroft and Manson as a blueliner with the Condors during the 2018-19 and 2019-20 AHL campaigns, as well as 11 games earlier this season.
