EDMONTON, AB - Urgency to create more chances on the power play was the focal point of Tuesday's practice at Rogers Place for the Edmonton Oilers ahead of Wednesday's visit from the Washington Capitals.
"I think everybody's doing the best they can to provide good habits out there," forward Evander Kane said. "I think really it's just a sense of urgency, and I think that can get raised to a higher level. There's no reason it shouldn't be going into tomorrow night."
The Oilers man advantage went 0-for-4 against the Calgary Flames in a 3-1 defeat at Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday, failing to generate the team any momentum as the Oilers dropped to 30-23-4 with their sixth defeat in their last eight games (2-5-1).
"I don't think we were close last night," Head Coach Jay Woodcroft said. "I don't think we were anywhere where we needed to be on our power play, specifically early in the game. We had a few chances, but not at the level we wanted to create. I don't think our power play yesterday was a momentum generator for our team, and a key factor in us not winning the game was the frustration that we felt on it."
