Captain Connor

It's a big day for Oilers forward Connor McDavid.
The 19-year-old has been named as the 15th captain in the team's history and has also become the youngest team captain in NHL history.
"When I first started playing professionally, you wouldn't have seen that, but looking back at past players - Crosby, Tavares, Landeskog, [Tavares] - younger guys have proved that it can be a successful recipe," said Oilers forward Matt Hendricks.
Entering just his second season with Edmonton, McDavid will have Oilers forward Jordan Eberle, Milan Lucic and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as alternate captains by his side.
"He's mature beyond his years," said Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan. "He's dealt with [the media] since he was 14. He handles himself very well and takes care of his teammates in front of and with the media, which we think is very important in a Canadian franchise. He is an ambassador of the game, which I think you have to be as a Captain, he puts himself out there with the fans and the young kids and he understands his role."
McDavid, who served as team captain with the Ontario Hockey League's Erie Otters, was named Captain of Team North America at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
"I think that was almost even more difficult of a job than this," said McDavid. "I was still trying to get to know the guys, all at the same time, and here in Edmonton, everyone is so close, I definitely feel more comfortable in this dressing room than that one. I almost feel more comfortable here."
