EDMONTON, AB - Cooper Marody doesn't simply want to make the jump to pro next season.
Instead, the 21-year-old wants to be on the Oilers roster and has dedicated his off-season to putting himself in the best position to do so.
"For me, I'm trying to make the NHL team," Marody said following Tuesday's on-ice session, which included skills development and a scrimmage.
"I had a good season last year in college with confidence. I felt really good about that. Then I had a really good three games in the AHL at the end of the season."
Indeed, Marody had a stellar 2017-18 campaign. The centre potted 16 goals and 35 assists with the Wolverines, averaging 1.27 points per game, to lead the Big Ten Conference in scoring with 51 points while also being a key cog in Michigan's entrance into the Frozen Four.
