GAME STORY: Oilers 4, Hurricanes 3 (OT)

RALEIGH, NC - Josh Archibald tallied two goals including the overtime winner and Leon Draisaitl notched three points in the Oilers 4-3 OT victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Sunday at PNC Arena.
Tyler Benson registered his first career National Hockey League point with an assist, Kailer Yamamoto potted his ninth of the season and Mike Smith made 27 saves.
Edmonton concludes their three-game road swing 2-1-0 and improves to 32-21-6 on the campaign, increasing their point total to 70 after back-to-back matinee wins. The triumph lifts the Oilers to first in the Pacific Division with a one-point advantage over the Vancouver Canucks.

"Two games and this feels like a whirlwind. This feels like six periods in a game," Oilers Head Coach Dave Tippett said post-game following the busy weekend.
"I loved the way our guys just kept hanging around it and got the job done."
The rising action of regulation reached a plateau in what quickly became a north-south overtime frenzy.
With the game on Sebastian Aho's stick in the fourth period as he attacked on a breakaway, the forward was foiled not once but twice by Oilers keeper Smith, allowing the Orange & Blue to turn the other way.
Draisaitl fed Archibald on a 2-on-1 and the winger went low to secure the victory for the Oilers. The assist was Draisaitl's 61st of the season and 95th point.
"When Smitty makes saves like that, you got to come back for him and do something at the other end," Archibald said about the sequence that led to his overtime winner.
"Ninety-nine out of 100 times, he (Draisaitl) is going to get that puck to you. I was lucky enough to put it in tonight."
The German has three goals and seven assists in four games without Oilers Captain Connor McDavid, also riding a five-game, 12-point scoring streak.
"Leon's putting the team on his back right now and playing unbelievable for us. That whole line has," Archibald said.
Tippett, who offered his praise after Draisaitl's performance on Saturday, was forced to do so again 24 hours later.
"The effect he has on the game is unbelievable," said the Oilers coach.
The Hurricanes got their storm started 12 seconds into the match after a Trevor van Riemsdyk point shot eluded a maze of bodies as well as Smith for the opening goal.

Draisaitl answered for the Oilers by depositing Jujhar Khaira's nifty one-handed feed just after a power play expired. The goal was the Deutschland Dangler's 34th of the year and fifth during his five-game point streak.
Aho struck for his 32nd of the season with a forehand move on a breakaway 5:19 into the 2nd period but Edmonton ended the frame on top thanks in part to a pair of former Bakersfield Condors teammates now making their mark with the Orange & Blue.
Yamamoto notched his fourth point in two games on the power play with a slot one-timer that caught a fortunate bounce off goaltender James Reimer to cross the goal-line.
With the ice tilted in their favour, Archibald made a great play to keep a puck in at the offensive zone then orchestrated a give-and-go with Benson for a partial break. Archibald went top shelf on Reimer to provide Edmonton with the lead 28 seconds after Yamamoto's equalizer.

"He's a playmaker, that's why he's here," Archibald said of Benson, who earned career point No. 1.
"It was a great feed."
Edmonton ended the contest 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, suppressing two Hurricanes power plays in the third period before Aho's tying marker. It was an area of improvement for Tippett post-game.
"Taking a couple of penalties in the third when you have a lead in the offensive zone is not ideal, especially when you're playing back-to-back," said the bench boss.
The Oilers return home for two games beginning with the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.
"We got four points and we'll go home and rest up for a couple of days."
