It's that time of the season, as at the beginning of each year, where broadcasters, like fans, like to have some fun with early success and parlay it over the course of the entire hockey season. If I had written this blog after game one, the captain would have been on pace for 246 goals.
Nothing like kicking off the campaign with a hat trick. Add another goal in game two and you have McDavid's goal total through the opening days of the season. Not a bad start to 2022-23, and amidst it all, he also tallied the 700th point of his career (241 have been goals).
