The Oilers face the Blues with Holloway elevated to the top six

THIRD PERIOD

1:11: Brandon Saad empty-netter. 6-3 Blues is your final from Enterprise Center.

6:11: Holloway's cross-checking penalty makes it eight minor infractions for the Oilers tonight. It makes the job much harder as well to score two goals here in the final minutes to tie the game.

8:46: PERRY'S FIRST OILERS GOAL! The 38-year-old gets us back in it, with Brett Kulak and Connor McDavid getting assists. Still plenty of work to do.

13:23: Desharnais is given cross-checking and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on the same play to make matters worse.

15:16: Cody Ceci to the box for hooking. St. Louis is already 3-for-6 tonight with the man advantage.

20:00: The third period is next.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: With four goals – two on the power play – St. Louis shoots out to a 5-2 lead after 40 minutes.

24.9: The second-period struggles continue. Pavel Buchnevich puts away Robert Thomas' cross-ice pass. 5-2 Blues.

1:21: Another Blues power play with Connor Brown in the box for holding.

3:45: Corey Perry drops the gloves with Marco Scandella to try and spark his team after giving up three goals this period. We'll see if that leads to something.

4:35: Vincent Desharnais heads to the box for a second time and St. Louis quickly converts. Jordan Kyrou puts away a routine shot from just inside the left circle after it popped out from in front of the net just seven seconds into the man advantage. 4-2 Blues.

11:23: Torey Krug somehow slides one under Skinner. It didn't look like it was there despite the Oilers goalie being laid out across the crease, but the defenceman put it along the ice and over the goal line. 3-2 for St. Louis.

18:13: Derek Ryan sets off on a shorthanded breakaway, but isn't able to get a good shot off with a defender chasing him down.

18:51: Jake Neighbours with a turn-around snipe to the top corner just 1:09 after the intermission. It's 2-2 early in the second period.

20:00: The second period is underway!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Oskar Sundqvist comes a few fractions of a second from tying the game in the dying moments of the period. The refs originally called it a goal, but it was overturned because time expired. Edmonton keeps their 2-1 lead through 20 minutes.

23.0: NUUUUUUGE BEFORE THE INTERMISSION! Playing in his 851st game that ties Mark Messier for third all-time in franchise history, No. 93 finishes off a goalmouth scramble for his 15th of the year. Hyman was denied twice before, but he picks up a helper on the play along with McDavid, who already has two assists tonight after recording six the other night against Detroit. 2-1 for Edmonton.

Nugent-Hopkins cleans up a goalmouth scramble for a 2-1 lead

3:59: Make that two ten-bell saves for Jodan Binnington – both on Zach Hyman. The Oilers winger made the extra move in front but couldn't elevate his shot over the outstretched right pad of the Blues' netminder.

4:54: Nikita Alexandrov high-sticks Derek Ryan to earn two minutes. Soon after the faceoff, Zach Hyman is denied on an open look against Binnington with the glove after Ryan Nugent-Hopkins set him up from the left corner. A spectacular save.

6:09: POWER-PLAY PUNCHBACK! Evan Bouchard has his slapshot blocked in front, but Connor McDavid made a quick reaction pass to the right circle for Leon Draisaitl to deliver into the back of the net. Edmonton had 47 seconds left on a power play that came following some 4-on-4 with Jordan Kyrou hooking Derek Ryan on a shorthanded 2-on-1.

Draisaitl scores the equalizer with a power-play one-timer

8:37: Jake Neighbours, the former Oil King, has his leg swept by Leon Draisaitl. The Blues head to the power play with a one-goal lead.

9:47: Blues break through on a lucky bounce. A net-front pass takes a deflection off an Oilers defenceman and goes right onto the tape of Robert Thomas at the back door. Skinner did his best and even caught a piece of it, but it bounced up off his left shoulder and into the top corner. 1-0 for St. Louis.

10:21: Derek Ryan doesn't get all of a great opportunity in front of the Blues' crease before Binnington covers it up. Outside of their disallowed goal, that was Edmonton's best chance.

12:40: Edmonton's first power play produces no shots.

14:40: Holloway skates in on a quick transition from the Oilers and draws a tripping penalty from defenceman Matthew Kessel. The 23-year-old is trying to make the most of his opportunity in the top six with Leon Draisaitl and Evander Kane. That's a good start.

17:06: The puck is in for Edmonton off the stick of Evan Bouchard, but it's immediately waved off for goaltender interference on Corey Perry, who came through the crease and caught a piece of Jordan Binnington. That's the name of the game for the 38-year-old, and you're going to have a few taken away playing that type of style. Still 0-0.

17:51: The puck hits the scoreboard and play is stopped. You don't see that every day.

20:00: GAME ON FROM ST. LOUIS! Congratulations to Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who officially ties Mark Messier for third all-time on the games played list for the Oilers with his 851st appearance. He'll start tonight's game on his regular line with Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman.

20:00: The first period at Enterprise Center against the Blues will begin at 6:07 p.m. MT.
