Perry returns to Anaheim & Pickard gets the start in goal

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: EDMONTON WINS! The Oilers down the Ducks 5-3 to get back into the win column following the end of their 16-game win streak. Edmonton had to work their way past a strong Anaheim squad that played well, but Evander Kane collected three goals for his eighth career hat trick, Connor McDavid had three assists, and Leon Draisaitl posted the game-winning goal and a helper.

The Oilers wrap up back-to-back on Saturday at Crypto.com Arena against the Los Angeles Kings.

1:10: EVANDER KANE COMPLETES THE HAT-TRICK! He taps it into an open net for his eighth-career three-goal game. The winger extends the lead to two with 1:10 remaining.

Kane scores his hat-trick goal into the empty net for a 5-3 win

9:51: DRAISAITL DELIVERS ON THE POWER PLAY! Right over the left shoulder of Dostal and under the bar off the feed from Nugent-Hopkins. The Oilers have come back to tie the game three times and now have their first lead, up 4-3 with under 10 minutes left.

Draisaitl scores a PPG from his one-timer wheelhouse

10:31: Dostal with a great glove save on Nugent-Hopkins. He had his corner picked if not for the Ducks netminder.

11:09: THREE-ALL WITH NO.31 FOR HYMAN! McDavid takes off up the ice, cuts across the tops of the circles and threads the needle to the back door for Hyman to tap home the tying goal. 3-3 with over 10 minutes left.

Hyman finishes a fantastic feed from McDavid for his 31st goal

15:08: In his first big contribution, Dostal flat-out denies Zach Hyman's backhand on a 2-on-1 with Connor McDavid. Great save.

16:08: Pickard makes two big saves on Isac Lundestrom. Without their netminder tonight, it would be a lot bigger than a one-goal game. Anaheim has also replaced John Gibson in goal with Lukas Dostal due to a lower-body injury.

16:40: Ryan Strome gets his second on the power play. 3-2 Ducks.

17:20: Evan Bouchard trudges off for high-sticking.

20:00: The third period is underway!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Kane scores twice as that new-look line of Kane, Draisaitl and Perry begins to take over in a 2-2 hockey game. 20 minutes to go!

3:49: JANMARK SO CLOSE! Looking for his second of the season, the Swedish forward goes wide around a Ducks defender, spins onto his backhand in front and catches a piece of the post with his effort.

7:09: KANE GETS ANOTHER! A fired-up shift from the line of Kane, Draisaitl and Perry ends in Kane throwing his second goal of the period along the ice and under Gibson to make it 2-2. Draisaitl gets the primary assist and credit for driving the play with some early physicality. Brett Kulak also gets an assist.

Kane beats Gibson with a low shot for his second of the night

10:20: Ducks back in front. Ryan Strome is left alone in front on a broken Oilers breakout and he wraps it around Pickard just 29 seconds after the Oilers equalized. 2-1 Anaheim.

10:49: EVANDER KANE SHORT SIDE! The winger walks out and rips one short side on John Gibson after the goalie was left without his stick from a challenge by Corey Perry behind the net. Gibson complained before it was put away by Kane, but there won't be a challenge and we have a tie game. 1-1.

Kane goes short side top shelf to make it 1-1 in Anaheim

13:14: Holloway hammers a one-timer off McDavid's feed into the slot that required a quick glove stop from John Gibson just to get a piece of it.

20:00: The second period is underway!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Anaheim takes a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

1:19: Ducks take the lead. Cam Fowler let go of a wrist shot that beat Pickard after it struck Warren Foegele on the way through. 1-0 Anaheim.

3:02: Silfverberg goes down in a heap during a scrum with McDavid and the referees call it for interference. Anaheim goes to their first power play.

9:57: PICKARD DENIES THE DUCKS! Edmonton's netminder stops former Oiler Ryan Strome on a breakaway and then kicks out the left pad on a Jakob Silfverberg rebound. Two huge stops from Calvin with the Ducks dominating the early stages of this game.

12:07: Connor McDavid HITS THE CROSSBAR! The captain was looking to get one on the power play that's 2-for-28 in recent games.

15:40: Calvin Pickard is up to the task with some tricky early saves in his eighth start of the year. He beat Anaheim in this building back on Dec. 31 with 30 saves.

20:00: GAME ON!

20:00: The first period is about to begin.
