An all-or-nothing Game 7 for the Stanley Cup goes tonight

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: The Panthers win the 2024 Stanley Cup.

The Oilers come one game short of completing the reverse sweep, falling 2-1 in Game 7 with Sam Bennett's goal in the second period going down as the game-winner. Florida lifts their first Stanley Cup in franchise history, winning the series four games to three after the Oilers heroically fought back from a 3-0 deficit to force Monday's deciding seventh game. What a story it would've been, but it ends with heartbreak. The Oilers will be back again to try next season to win the last game of the season.

As the playoff's leading scorer, Connor McDavid wins the 2024 Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP.

1:35: McDavid just puts his deflection over the Panthers' net. Less than two minutes left as Kris Knoblauch takes Edmonton's timeout.

3:29: All kinds of traffic and battles going down in front of the Florida net as Edmonton pounds the blue paint, getting a great look for Darnell Nurse with Bobrovsky sideways in the crease.

4:35: Time is Edmonton's enemy now as we enter the final five minutes, still trailing 2-1.

7:02: How doesn't it go in? McDavid collects a low shot from Bouchard and nearly wraps it around Bobrovsky from in close before it's knocked off his stick, leading to a second chance for Hyman that's kept out by a sliding Panthers' defenceman. The best chance of the period for Edmonton goes unfinished.

9:13: The Oilers force the Panthers into two back-to-back icings and the Oilers' bug guns will get back out there for an O-zone draw.

14:41: Skinner makes a great stop on the kill against Sam Bennett with an in-close save after Edmonton had a short-handed rush the other way through Janmark and Brown, but couldn't convert. The Oilers escape their second penalty and are 2-for-2 tonight on the kill.

16:37: After a flurry of chances to begin the period, the Oilers will be shorthanded on a high stick by Evan Bouchard on Eetu Luostarinen. Second power play for the Panthers.

20:00: GAME ON! Edmonton needs to write one more chapter in this comeback story to win the Stanley Cup.

20:00: The third period is coming up!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: After 40 minutes of Game 7, the Panthers lead 2-1 on Reinhart's go-ahead goal with less than five minutes left in the second period. Edmonton will have to once again come from behind in this series to win the Stanley Cup.

3:26: Draisaitl scrapes a one-timer just tide after McDavid opened up the lane for him.

4:49: Sam Reinhart short side to take the lead for the Panthers. Edmonton nearly scores at the other end after the puck rolled through the crease before Reinhart came in on a Florida rush and beat Skinner under the glove. 2-1 Panthers.

10:48: The Oilers make a smart change and hem the Panthers into their own zone for a minute and a half before Bobrovsky covered the puck with a glove save on Ekholm.

16:38: Tkachuk takes down Foegele for an Oilers' power play! Their first of the night.

20:00: The second period is underway!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: After 20 minutes in Game 7, we're tied 1-1 with the shots 7-6 in favour of Florida. Verhaeghe and Janmark trade goals in the first 10 minutes before Florida commanded the last few minutes in Edmonton's zone.

1:18: Florida does a good job of gaining the territorial advantage in the Oilers' zone, getting a great chance for Dmitry Kulikov that goes wide before Matthew Tkachuk flips an in-close chance just wide.

6:54: BOUCHARD OFF THE POST!

13:16: WHAT A PASS BY CODY CECI! MR. GAME 7 SETS UP MATTIAS JANMARK FOR THE BREAKAWAY! Ceci fires a full-ice stretch pass to the Swede, who barrels in alone and goes off the pad of Sergei Bobrovsky and into the top corner and tie the game with his fourth of the playoffs! 1-1 in Sunrise!

Ceci springs Janmark on a breakaway for the first-period equalizer

15:33: Panthers score the first goal of Game 7. After getting through the penalty kill, Evan Rodrigues sends a puck towards goal that Carter Verhaeghe tips home five-hole. 1-0 Panthers.

17:39: The Oilers are charged with the game's first penalty on a crosscheck up high to Brandon Montour by Warren Foegele.

20:00: ONE GAME TO DECIDE THE CUP! It all comes down to this. Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. History begins now.

20:00: Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final is coming up at 6:20 pm MT.
