The Edmonton Oilers begin a five-game homestand at Rogers Place on Wednesday night against the Boston Bruins.

The Oilers may be without RNH as they begin their homestand

OVERTIME

1:50: Charlie McAvoy wins it to give Boston the extra point. The defender avoids the sliding Kane in front of the Oilers crease and flips it past Skinner to end it at 1:50 of overtime, 6-5 for the Bruins. An incredible comeback by the Oilers falls just short. We'll be back in action on Friday when we begin back-to-back home games at Rogers Place against the Minnesota Wild.

3:11: STUUUUUUU! Van Riemsdyk exits the box and gets a breakaway, but Skinner shuts the five-hole to keep this thing going.

5:00: The extra period has begun!

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: An incredible period of hockey sees the Oilers and Bruins each earn a point tied 5-5 after full-time. Edmonton will get 1:40 of power play time left over to claim the extra point in OT.

10.6: OILERS POWER PLAY! James Van Riemsdyk highsticks Janmark to set up the last-ditch power play that could win it for the Oilers.

6:37: HYMAN SAYS NO WAY! Mattias Ekholm takes the point shot and Edmonton's leading scorer puts away the rebound for his 34th of the year. McDavid picks up another helper and we're tied again. What a game. 5-5!

7:19: Pastrnak scores. The Czech forward's 36th of the season retakes the lead for Boston after their leading scorer put it through a defenceman and short side past Skinner. 5-4 Bruins.

12:36: COREY PERRY CONVERTS THE REBOUND! TIE GAME! No. 90 shovels it over the right pad of Swayman after Darnell Nurse delivered the original shot. Cody Ceci gets his second assist of the contest with the secondary helper on the play. We have ourselves a new game with over 12 minutes left! 4-4.

13:46: THE JANITOR CLEANS UP! Cody Ceci's shot squeaks behind Swayman and Mattias Janmark is right there to shovel in the rebound for his third goal of the season, and second in back-to-back games. GAME ON! The Bruins lead 4-3.

20:00: The third period is underway! 4-2 Bruins.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: The Oilers trail 4-2 through 40 minutes, but were building up in the last half of that middle period. Foegele's second of the game has given them something to work with in the final frame.

4:33: FOEGELE AGAIN! No. 37 has a pair of goals tonight and his second tally gives Edmonton a way back in with less than five minutes left in the middle frame. Hyman threw a terrific pass onto the tape of Hyman in front before the winger wrapped it around Swayman. 4-2.

6:03: DeBrusk buries a loose puck. The hometown kid gets one against his hometown team, and in front of his family and friends – including his dad Louie in between the benches. 4-1 Bruins.

6:45: McDavid slides a pass to Hyman through the legs of a Bruins defenceman before Edmonton's leading scorer has his backhand effort stopped by the left pad of Swayman.

9:51: Morgan Geekie is having an involved game, but he's heading to the penalty box on this plat for breaking the stick of Dylan Holloway with a slash. Edmonton 0-for-1 tonight with the man advantage.

13:40: SPIRITED SCRAP! Corey Perry drops 'em with Jeremy Wotherspoon after Darnell Nurse looked to have taken a slash from him following a hard hit along the boards. No. 90 looking to spark his group down two goals, but he does get the extra roughing penalty.

15:20: Boston doubles up their advantage. Trent Frederic makes a terrific deflection that slides off the right post and in for his 16th goal this season. Two goals in the opening five minutes of this middle frame for the visitors. 3-1 Boston.

19:35: Bruins break through for another lead early in the frame. Brad Marchand walks down the left and beats Skinner short side to make it 2-1 just 25 seconds into the period.

20:00: The second period is underway!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Skinner stops Geekie's last-second shot to keep it level 1-1 through the break. A solid first period at Rogers Place.

2:33: Anthony Richard takes out the legs of Connor McDavid at the blueline. Edmonton heads to the power play!

6:33: Stuart Skinner stands up Jesper Boqvist on an open look from between the circles. A great save by the Oilers netminder, who's making his 100th career start tonight.

8:20: FOE-GO HARD TO THE NET! Warren Foegele makes a hard drive to the Bruins' net and slides his 12th goal of the campaign five-hole under Swayman. With an empty-netter in Arizona on Monday, No. 37 now has goals in back-to-back games after last scoring on Jan. 23 against Columbus. 1-1.

10:58: Bouchard's blast is blocked by Justin Brazeau, who's playing in his second NHL game, before McDavid takes a turn-around wrist shot from between the hashmarks that's gloved down by Jeremy Swayman.

17:26: Bruins open the scoring with the early man advantage. Morgan Geekie sifts a wrist shot through on the power play. 1-0 Boston.

18:55: Ryan McLeod chops the foot of Matt Grzelcyk for an early Bruins power play. The defenceman takes some time to get up and is helped off the ice.
