The Oilers look to carry their success into Game 2 on Wednesday

OVERTIME

17:53: Kings win Game 2. Off an unfortunate bounce that fell right onto Kopitar's stick for a breakaway, the Kings' captain goes top shelf on Skinner to win it 4-3 and send us back to LA with the series tied 1-1.

20:00: The overtime period is UNDERWAY!

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: It just seemed like one of those games meant for overtime. We'll go to the extra period tied 4-4 after the Kings and Oilers traded goals in the final frame.

6:51: Kings head to the power play with McDavid in the box for hooking along the Oilers' blueline.

9:47: HYMAN LEVELS DANAULT! A HUGE CHECK IN THE KINGS' ZONE!

16:37: HOLY HOLLOWAY! WHAT A NIGHT FOR THE CALGARY KID! The bright lights of the 2024 Playoffs don't phase Hollywood, who roofs a snap shot from the right circle for his second of the night. Janmark collects his second assist as well on the tying goal that comes 3:23 into the third. 4-4.

Holloway snipes the equalizer top shelf for his second of the game

18:14: Kings advantage. Skinner doesn't see Kevin Fiala's one-timer from along the half-boards due to the traffic parked in between himself and the puck. The Swiss forward's effort slides through his five-hole to make it 4-3 early in the final period.

20:00: The third period is underway! All to play for with Game 2 knotted at 3-3.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: We have ourselves a hockey game. The Oilers score twice and control much of the second period to make it 3-3 heading into the third period off goals from Holloway and Hyman.

18.6: Wow. Talbot is keeping the Kings in this period despite the one-sided direction of this period. He makes a monstrous glove save on Leon Draisaitl after McDavid made a move to the slot and sent a backward pass to the German, who was robbed right before the intermission.

2:00: OILERS TURN! Matt Roy sends it over the glass for a delay of game penalty with exactly two minutes left in the second period. More than enough time to add another PPG and take a lead into the intermission.

5:39: Perry is called for another penalty – this time for hooking Pierre-Luc Dubois in the neutral zone off a Kings' rush.

9:27: HYMAN TIES IT UP! HE PUMPS UP THE CROWD AS HE MAKES IT A 3-3 GAME! Fresh off a playoff hat-trick in Game 1, the winger unleashes a one-timer from the left circle on the power play and Rogers Place erupts for his fourth of the playoffs. It's all Edmonton now with LA holding on in this middle frame.

Hyman unleashes a power-play one-timer to tie the game at 3-3

10:16: Talbot with the emphatic windmill-glove stop on Evan Bouchard's bomb from the top of the zone.

10:24: Kulak goes hard to the net on a fast Oilers break and is hooked in the process, setting up Edmonton's second look on the power play. They're 0-for-1 tonight and 3-for-5 in the series so far.

12:09: SNAPPED HOME BY HOLLOWAY! An emphatic fist pump follows as the winger celebrates his first NHL Playoff goal! The Calgary product beats Talbot over the left pad after getting it in the slot from Sam Carrick at the end of a physically dominating shift from the fourth line. Mattias Janmark wraps up the perfect shift with the secondary assist. 3-2 Kings.

16:07: Ryan McLeod is unleashed on a breakaway and attempts to slide it five-hole, but Talbot reads it.

17:44: Corey Perry is called for goaltender interference after losing his stick and stumbling into Talbot.

20:00: The second period is underway!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The Kings lead 3-1 through 20 minutes with the Oilers leading 10-7 in shots.

1:59: Just a half-minute later, the Kings are back on top by two. Drew Doughty gets away on a breakaway from a Victor Arvidsson spin-pass in the neurtral zone and misses his move, but it slides through Skinner's five-hole. 3-1 Kings.

2:27: A CANNON FROM THE PARKLAND COUNTY KID! UNSTOPPABLE TO THE TOP CORNER! Brett Kulak steps into a slapshot set up off the rush by Leon Draisaitl, cutting the lead to 2-1. Warren Foegele gets the second assist.

Kulak steps into a drop-pass from Draisaitl & beats Talbot

4:26: Can't come any closer for the Oilers. The puck trickled behind Talbot to create a rugby scrum in the crease that was waved 'no goal' by the official, who was standing over the crossbar trying to get a glimpse of the puck through all the bodies in the blue paint. A quick review confirms it didn't cross the line. Connor McDavid & the Oilers looked convinced it was over, but not the officials or the Situation Room in Toronto. It remains 2-0 Kings.

5:03: Well. That's a tough one to stop. Adrian Kempe gets another on a sweet set of hand-eye coordination by batting the puck out of mid-air on the fly when Bouchard looked to have broken up a three-on-two rush. 2-0 Kings.

12:01: Hyman finds space in front off a McDavid pass to turn around and force Talbot into squeezing the winger's effort shut by closing the small opening over his left pad. A good save from the LA netminder as the power play goes unanswered for Edmonton.

13:25: After going 3-for-4 on the power play in Game 1, the Oilers go to the man advantage with the chance to tie it up. Quinton Byfield is the guilty party for tripping Brett Kulak.

15:11: Edmonton almost gets it back on a misplayed puck by Talbot behind the Kings' net that was picked off by McLeod to create a chance for Evander Kane alone in front, who tried to wrap it inside the near post but couldn't complete it. That was an excellent follow-up shift from the third line to get Edmonton their first shots of the game.

16:41: Kings quickly grab the lead off an Oilers turnover. Evan Bouchard attempts a banked breakout attempt to Foegele that misses and is intercepted by Anze Kopitar before Skinner is beaten low glove by Adrian Kempe from between the circles. 1-0 for LA.

20:00: GAME ON! It's the same lineups and same goaltenders for the Oilers & Kings for Game 2, where Edmonton can take a 2-0 advantage back to LA with a victory tonight. Fans inside are already getting on top of Talbot with the chants as the vibrations built up to puck drop.

20:00: LFG Oil Country 👊

20:00: The Game 2 countdown is on! Puck drop will be at 8:15 p.m. MT after the anthems are sung at Rogers Place.
