Skinner & the Oilers eye their 11th consecutive victory on Tuesday

THIRD PERIOD

0.0: MAKE THAT 11 WINS IN A ROW! Once again, the Oilers had to keep it close and battle their way to victory after falling behind early, but they've done just that with goals from Derek Ryan and Ryan McLeod in the final frame to take the lead before Evan Bouchard iced the 4-2 result with an empty-netter. A character win for the Blue & Orange, who see their franchise-record win streak climb even higher with a high-value victory over the Maple Leafs at Rogers Place on Tuesday.

The Oilers return to action on Thursday with a home matchup against the Seattle Kraken.

1:33: IT COULD... GO... ON... IT DOES! Evan Bouchard seals the two points with a full-ice clearance into the empty net that barely trickles over the line to make 4-2 late in this one. That should just about do it.

3:05: RYAN MCLEOD SCORES!!! Edmonton has the advantage late in this hockey game! the 24-year-old winger from Mississauga, Ont. walked out from behind the net and fired a short shot through traffic and into the opposite corner to lift the Oilers into a 3-2 lead!

17:33: DEREK RRRRRYAN! Ryan McLeod throws it in front to the 36-year-old from behind the net and the veteran forward buries it over the right pad of Jones for his 200th career NHL point, following suit with Ekholm who provided the assist on Draisaitl's goal for his 300th. The Swede also gets the secondary helper on Derek Ryan's fourth of the season and now has a multi-point game.

We are TIED at 2-2!

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Draisaitl's dirty backhand goal gives Edmonton an avenue into the game heading into the third period, down 2-1 to Toronto.

4:19: WE TAKE THOSE! The Oilers are on the board! Leon Draisaitl nonchalantly throws a no-look backhand on goal and it somehow finds its way past Martin Jones, who wasn't expecting the German to take any sort of shot from such a tight angle. Mattias Ekholm records an assist for his 300th career point. 2-1 Toronto with under five minutes left in the middle frame.

Draisaitl lifts a backhand shot past Jones for his 21st tally

8:56: Hyman has another one taken away. After roofing the puck on Jones off a terrific move to the net around Simon Benoit, the Toronto bench challenges for offside and overturns the call. This can't keep happening to the man. It remains 2-0 Toronto.

9:08: Toronto takes a two-goal lead. Morgan Rielly charges to the net from the left circle with the puck and scrapes one through Skinner, with Matthews and Holmberg picking up the assists. 2-0 Toronto.

11:55: Skinner stands up Holmberg with the blocker on an open look by forcefully pushing out of his crease to close the angle. It's a big save and one that comes after he was clattered into by a Leafs forward in the previous minute, causing a scrum and a faceoff so the netminder could catch his breath.

19:00: Nylander buzzes the tower on a breakaway by hitting the crossbar. Another early warning shot for the Maple Leafs, who'll head to the power play with a crosscheck from Darnell Nurse on John Tavares.

20:00: The second period is underway!

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: Matthews' early tally stands as the only goal in the first period. 1-0 Toronto.

2:20: WHAT A SAVE SKINNER! Pontus Holmberg gets the puck put on a plate by Matthews for a one-timer, but Skinner slides across to get a piece of it and make a vital save.

Skinner makes an impressive glove save to deny Holberg

2:45: Zach Hyman with a great move around TJ Brodie in the neutral zone before Martin Jones sticks out the left pad to deny the former Toronto forward.

5:58: You know the captain gets up for these games. McDavid already has three hits and four shots in 5:36 of ice time. He's been a big catalyst for getting his group going after conceding to Matthews and the Maple Leafs early in this one.

11:21: Connor McDavid nearly draws Edmonton level with two terrific looks in close on Martin Jones, but the captain is at least able to draw a hooking penalty to send the Oilers to the power play.

18:09: The Oilers need to settle themselves defensively as Tyler Bertuzzi puts a redirection off the post following a shot pass from Calle Jarnkrok. Edmonton was a close shave away from being down two goals in the opening two minutes.

19:33: The visitors strike first. It's Auston Matthews just 33 seconds into the hockey game off a cross-ice pass from Mitch Marner. 1-0 Toronto.

20:00: LEAFS. OILERS. GAME ON!

20:00: The First period from Rogers Place is set to begin at 7:07 p.m. MT.
