PRE-GAME REPORT

TAMPA, FL - There's no rest for the wicked as the Oilers jump right back into game action on Tuesday with a match against the Tampa Bay Lightning after losing 4-2 to the defending Stanley Cup-winning Washington Capitals on Monday.
Edmonton's five-game road winning streak was snapped in the process, giving the club a chance to re-enter the win column in their back-to-back situation. That will be a tall task given the Bolts currently rank second in the National Hockey League with a 10-3-1 record and 21 points.
"Especially after a loss, it's nice to get right back at it and get it going again," said forward Milan Lucic. "We're .500 so far on the road trip, so it's an opportunity to set yourself up to come out of the road trip with three out of four wins.
"We can't do that unless we win here tonight."
Defender Darnell Nurse alluded to the energy level a team has when playing two games in two nights.
"It's weird, some nights you come out and feel better than the first night and some, it takes a couple shifts to get into," the blueliner said. "But with a team like this, you can't really wait your way into it. That's going to be an important focus for us, coming out and having a good start."
LIGHTNING STRIKES
The Bolts can strike from anywhere and feature a lightning-quick attack with the presence of last year's third-leading point scorer Nikita Kucherov as well as sniper Steven Stamkos.
Brayden Point, however, leads the team with 17 points and seven Lightning players already have double-digit point totals in 2018-19.
"You got to take every line seriously," continued Nurse, who has five points in 14 games this season. "It's a tough challenge but one we'll definitely be up for."
Not only is Tampa one of the quickest clubs in the League but they also get contributions from their blueline and don't wait to put pucks at the net, which McLellan noted in his pre-game availability.
"They can scoot," he said. "They've got a go-go mentality. They'll get four up into the rush and keep four in the play. A lot of times, you'll see a defenceman down around the net and he'll stay down there.
"The other thing that's impressive is how they can score off the pass. It can just be slid over and those guys, Stamkos, Kucherov, Point are shooting it off the pass and it becomes a dangerous thing."
FRESH BODIES
McLellan wants to inject his lineup with fresh legs on Tuesday. Ty Rattie, Kailer Yamamoto and Kevin Gravel are with the team but haven't played in some time. That could change versus the Bolts.
"We'll likely see all three," the bench boss said. "We have a couple players that are banged up and question marks due to health and then we'll have to make another decision on a body to get them in but we'd like to play as many fresh bodies as we can tonight."
McLellan confirmed Mikko Koskinen will man the twine. He's 3-0-0 in '18-19 with a 2.01 goals-against average and .935 save percentage.

Head-to-Head:
Tonight's game is the first of two meetings between the Oilers and Lightning in the 2018-19 season. The second and final game against one another will be on Dec. 22, at Rogers Place. The season series was split 1-1 in 2017-18, with the Oilers defeating the Lightning 6-2 in February, then losing 3-1 in March.
Oilers team scope:
The Oilers had their five-game road success streak snapped against the Washington Capitals on Monday, getting doubled up by a score of 4-2. Prior to that, Edmonton had won two in a row, with victories coming over the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings.
The Orange & Blue began their campaign on the road in Europe, dropping their opener 5-2 to the New Jersey Devils in Gothenburg, Sweden. The club followed that up with a 4-1 loss to the Bruins but bounced back in a big way through the month of October, ending it 6-4-1.
The club is 6-3-1 in their last 10 games with two left to play on their current four-game swing. They sit third in the Pacific Division with 17 points and 12th in the National Hockey League overall.
Lightning team scope:
The Bolts enter Tuesday's contest as the second-best team in the League, trailing only the Nashville Predators by one point with 21. they are currently on a two-game winning run, having defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 on Saturday then the Ottawa Senators 4-3 in overtime on Sunday.
Tampa is 10-3-1 in '18-19, going 5-2-0 at Amalie Arena and 5-1-1 on the road. They sit second, behind the Predators once again, in goal differential with a plus-12 score.
By the Numbers:
With a power-play goal on Monday, Connor McDavid took sole possession of second place in the League in points with 22. He trails only Mikko Rantanen, who has 24, by two.
McDavid has tallied 10 goals on 48 shots, which equates to a 20.8 shooting percentage. That's a positive deviation from his career average, which is 14.3 percent.
Brayden Point leads the Lightning with 17 points in 14 games. Newly-inked forward Yanni Gourde and last year's third-leading point-getter Nikita Kucherov follow him with 14 points apiece.
Steven Stamkos, meanwhile, sits at four goals and six helpers in 14 games.
The Lightning have been able to both contain leads and overwrite them this year, owning a 5-1-1 record when opening the scoring and a 5-2-0 mark when their opponents light the lamp first.
The Bolts have the best penalty kill in the League with a 90.4 percentage. They've allowed just a single goal against on the PK at home on 27 attempts.
Tampa Bay is 1-2-0 this season against the Pacific Division, beating the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 but losing to the Vancouver Canucks and Arizona Coyotes by a combined score of 11-2.
