EDMONTON, AB -Three wins in a row is great, but right now the Oilers are focused on piecing together a longer and more meaningful run. If they want to take leaps, not baby steps, toward the playoff push they'll need to string together a successful streak.
"We've got the start for it with three, obviously. But we put together four recently and it went the other way," said forward Mark Letestu. "The potential is there for it. We know we need to put together a good streak. It doesn't need to be eight in a row, it can be 12 of 13 or something to that effect. We know we have to put together a run. The three we've put in the bank helps, but we've got two more games here at home and then we've got another break we need to deal with."
Head Coach Todd McLellan says it's about not giving back the opportunity they have in front of them.
"Our group should feel confident," he said. "We should feel a little better about ourselves than we did two weeks ago. I feel it in practice. They're an energized group right now, but it's sitting there for us. We can't give it back. We have had a tendency this year to give it back. Other teams get in the way. I've said that many times. Every team in the League is capable of playing hard and stealing games from you. You've got to understand that and not give it back, and that's what our goal will be tomorrow night and we'll try to follow it up Thursday."
