EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers finish back-to-back exhibition games to begin the pre-season with a road tilt at Climate Pledge Arena against the Seattle Kraken on Monday night.
Mattias Janmark will play for the first time in Oilers colours on a top line with Devin Shore and Derek Ryan. Like Ryan, Kailer Yamamoto will make his pre-season debut in his home state of Washington on a line with James Hamblin and Tyler Benson.
Forward Reid Schaefer, the Oilers 2022 first-round pick from the Seattle Thunderbirds, will play on the third line with Greg McKegg and Jake Virtanen in the city he posted 58 points in 66 games during the 2021-22 WHL season. Schaefer, Hamblin, Virtanen, Noah Philp, Tyler Benson and Markus Niemelainen are the six Oilers who'll suit up in Seattle for the second-straight night after dressing in Edmonton's 4-0 shutout win over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday.
Philip Broberg and Tyson Barrie will pair up on the top defensive pairing, while goaltenders Olivier Rodrigue and Ryan Fanti are expected to split duties in between the pipes for the Oilers tonight.
