EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers open the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs on home ice at Rogers Place on Monday night with Game 1 of their best-of-seven series against the Los Angeles Kings.
Darnell Nurse was the first skater on the ice at morning skate and was back on the top pairing with Cody Ceci after participating in full at practice for the second straight day. The defenceman looks poised to return to the lineup after missing the final four games of the regular season with injury, but his status before puck drop was not confirmed during morning media avails.
"We'll see," both Nurse and Head Coach Woodcroft said during their availabilities. "He'll be a game-time decision," Woodcroft added.
The depth of the team allows Woodcroft the option to go with either the traditional 12 forwards and six defencemen set-up or the 11 forwards and seven defencemen route that the bench boss has utilized heavily during his time in Edmonton.
