EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers announced Friday evening they have recalled forwards Cooper Marody and Seth Griffith from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.
In subsequent moves, the team has placed defenceman Markus Niemelainen on Injured Reserved, moved defenceman Kris Russell to Long Term Injured Reserve retroactive to Dec. 9 and entered defenceman Duncan Keith into the NHL's COVID protocol.
Marody has scored six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 18 games for the Condors this season. The 24-year-old has appeared in six career NHL games and has yet to record a point.
Griffith has scored six goals and 12 assists for 18 points in 18 games with Bakersfield this season. The 28-year-old has recorded eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 79 career NHL games, but has yet to suit up for Edmonton since the team signed him to a two-year, two-way contract on Oct. 9, 2020.
Prior to getting placed on IR, Niemelainen appeared in the first seven games of his NHL career this season. He was held off the scoresheet but recorded 36 hits and nine blocks.
