EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have acquired veteran defenceman Mattias Ekholm and a 2024 sixth-round pick from the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenceman Tyson Barrie, prospect Reid Schaefer, a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 fourth-round pick.
As part of the deal, the Predators will retain four percent of Ekholm's remaining contract. The 32-year-old Swedish defenceman has three years remaining on his contract following the 2022-23 NHL season at an average annual value (AAV) of $6.25 million.
