The Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Chris Wideman from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a 2020 conditional sixth round draft pick the Oilers previously acquired from the St. Louis Blues.
Wideman, 28, is in his fourth NHL season and has five points (2G, 3A) in 19 games this year, along with 12 penalty minutes and a -9 plus-minus rating. The native of St. Louis, MO has appeared in a total of 175 NHL games, posting 43 points (16G, 27A), 98 penalty minutes and a +7 plus-minus rating.

Wideman won the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL's top defenceman in 2014-15, and was named to the AHL First All-Star Team.

A 5'10", 183-pound right-handed defenceman, Wideman also played internationally for the U.S. at the 2016 World Hockey Championship, finishing fourth.

Wideman was originally selected by the Senators in the fourth round, 100th overall, of the 2009 NHL Draft.
