RELEASE: Oilers announce 2021-22 season schedule

EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers will open the 2021-22 NHL season in front of their fans with a three-game inter-divisional homestand at Rogers Place, starting with the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, Oct. 13 followed by the Calgary Flames on Saturday, Oct. 16 and Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
The Oilers return to a full 82-game slate in the Pacific Division this season after 56-game campaign in the all-Canadian Scotia North Division last year. The NHL's newest club, the Seattle Kraken, will be a division rival for the Oilers with Calgary, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Vegas and San Jose filling out the rest of the Pacific roster.
The Kraken make their first visit to Edmonton on Monday, Nov. 1 and the Oilers see their first action in the Emerald City on Friday, Dec. 3. The addition of Seattle also means an unbalanced divisional schedule with the club having four games against Calgary, Los Angeles, San Jose, and Vegas, while facing the Canucks, Ducks and Kraken three times.
Following their initial tilt at Rogers Place during the first week of the season, the Battle of Alberta moves to Calgary on Monday, Dec. 27 before returning to Edmonton on Saturday, Jan. 22. The clubs complete their four-game set in Calgary on Saturday, March 26.
While last season featured two and sometimes three-game series against the same team, the Oilers return to a traditional schedule in 2021-22 with five home games in November and eight on the road, including a five-game, mid-month trip to Detroit, Boston, Buffalo, St. Louis and Winnipeg.

After a visit by Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins on Dec. 1 and their first trip to Seattle, the Oilers will host a six-game homestand (Kings, Wild, Bruins, Hurricanes, Leafs and Blue Jackets).
The team makes way for the IIHF World Junior Championship prior to Christmas and ventures out on an eight-game tour to close out 2021, with games against the Kings, Sharks, Flames, Blues, Devils, Islanders, Rangers and Leafs.
With an 18-day gap between home games in December and early January, the club returns to Rogers Place later in the month and plays eight times to kick off 2022. As stated earlier today by the NHL, All-Star Weekend takes place Feb. 4-5 in Vegas and player participation in the Winter Olympics is to be determined, but a two-week break has been built into the schedule (Feb. 7-22).
As a result, the Oilers play just four times in February, all on the road, while March features the most home games (9) including visits by 2021 Stanley Cup finalists Montreal (March 5) and Tampa Bay (March 12).
The regular season concludes with 14 games in April, seven of which are at home and featuring a pair of visits by the Colorado Avalanche.
