EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have announced assistant coaches Glen Gulutzan and Dave Manson, as well as goalie coach Dustin Schwartz and video coach Jeremy Coupal, will return to the hockey operations staff for the 2022-23 season.
Gulutzan, 51, is back for his fifth season with the Oilers and, among his full complement of duties, serves as the team's primary power-play architect.
"(Gulutzan) totally bought into being on (Jay Woodcroft's) staff," General Manager & President of Hockey Operations Ken Holland said Thursday on Oilers Now. "They have great chemistry and he obviously has a tremendous relationship with not only Connor and Leon, but the guys that are on the power play. I think it was really important for Woody to have Gully back and he's excited to be a part of Woody's staff. That was a really important keep for us."
Responsible for the team's defensive corps, Manson, 55, begins his first full season with the Oilers after joining the coaching staff alongside Woodcroft in February.
Schwartz, 43, enters his ninth season as the Oilers goalie coach, while video coach Coupal returns for his seventh season with the club.
Additionally, the Oilers have expanded their video department with the promotion of Noah Segall to Video Coordinator. Segall held the same position with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.
The club has also named Brad Holland Assistant General Manager, Professional Scouting for the 2022-23 season. Holland joined the organization as a scout in 2019. Current Assistant GM and General Manager, Bakersfield Condors, Keith Gretzky will return for his seventh season with the club.
"(Brad) has got a law degree and if anybody knows a lawyer, they don't sit back, they challenge," Ken Holland said. "He was in pro scouting with our team the last three years. I think he's very tech-savvy and he's analytically-driven. He's 40 years old, as I think most people who are in their 30s and 40s, they thirst for more analytical information. On his own merit, I think he's deserving of a bigger role."
The Oilers are also in the process of hiring a third assistant coach on Woodcroft's staff to replace the departing Brian Wiseman, who was hired by the New York Islanders this week.
"We've asked permission from teams for Woody to talk to some people," Holland said of the recruitment process. "We look at that position as a skill development position being with the coaching staff and team on an every-day basis."
