EDMONTON, AB - It's been nearly 20 years since the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens alumni teams squared off as part of the inaugural Heritage Classic at Commonwealth Stadium.
Former players from both storied franchises will renew their rivalry on Friday, Feb. 4 at 5pm MT as they compete in another outdoor game at Saiker's Acres in support of the fight against lung disease and funding lung health research via Alberta Lung & NWT.
The Oilers roster will include recent Hockey Hall of Fame inductee Kevin Lowe as Head Coach plus fellow Hall of Fame member Glenn Anderson in the lineup alongside Louie DeBrusk, Georges Laraque, Fernando Pisani, Jason Strudwick, Ben Scrivens and others.
The Canadiens roster will include Mathieu Dandenault, Mike Keane, Shawn Belle, Eric Houde, Oleg Petrov and Jesse Belanger, led by Head Coach Yvon Lambert.
The alumni showdown will be streamed live on EdmontonOilers.com, in addition to the team's Twitter account, Facebook page and YouTube channel, with Jack Michaels, Bob Stauffer and Tony Brar providing game commentary and rink-side interviews.
The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation will also host an online 50/50 raffle on Feb. 4 with net proceeds assisting with Alberta Lung & NWT's construction of Canada's first lung health and transplant recovery home called Breathing Space.
A limited number of tickets are available to watch the game in person and can be purchased for $125 apiece from Alberta Lung & NWT by emailing [email protected].
