EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers announced Sunday defenceman Philip Broberg has been reassigned to the team's taxi squad.
Broberg, 19, appeared in 44 games with Skellefteå AIK this season in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), recording 13 points (3G, 10A), 10 penalty minutes and a -4 plus/minus rating.
Broberg has spent two seasons with Skellefteå AIK, accumulating 21 points (4G, 17A), 16 penalty minutes and a -5 plus/minus rating in 89 career SHL games.
The 6'3", 203-pound defenceman also played in four games and captained Sweden at this year's IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton, notching three assists and a -3 plus/minus rating. It was the third time the defender represented his country at World Juniors, running his all-time games played total to 15, registering five points (1G, 4A), four penalty minutes and a -3 plus/minus rating.
A native of Ӧrebro, Sweden, Broberg was Edmonton's first-round selection (eighth overall) in the 2019 NHL Draft. He had a brief stint with the Oilers during last summer's Stanley Cup Playoffs before being loaned to Skellefteå AIK for the 2020-21 season.
