EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Tyson Barrie to a three-year contract extension with an average annual value of $4.5 million, the club announced Wednesday.
The 30-year-old led all NHL blueliners in scoring last season with 48 points (eight goals, 40 assists) in 56 games in his first year with the Oilers after signing a one-year contract in October.
The Victoria, B.C. native has recorded eight consecutive seasons with 38 or more points, including a career-best 59 points in 2018-19 as a member of the Colorado Avalanche. The most recent 2020-21 campaign was Barrie's top point-per-game season, though, as he finished at 0.86.
He has played 610 career NHL regular season games, scoring 88 goals and 306 assists for 394 points. Barrie also has 30 post-season games under his belt with one goal and 14 helpers.
