EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers have signed defenceman Ethan Bear to a two-year contract extension through the 2021-22 season with an average annual value of $2 million.
The 23-year-old appeared in 71 games with the Oilers last season, posting five goals and 16 assists. He ranked third among Oilers defencemen in points (21) and time on ice (21:58). Bear also played in four games during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The 5-foot-11, 197-pound blueliner has appeared in 89 career NHL games, registering six goals and 19 assists. A native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Bear has also scored 12 goals and 37 assists in 89 career American Hockey League games with the Bakersfield Condors.
Bear was selected by Edmonton in the fifth round, 124th overall at the 2015 NHL Draft.
