EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have signed free-agent forward Derek Ryan to a two-year contract with an average annual value of $1.25 million, the club announced Wednesday.
The 34-year-old scored two goals and 11 assists in 43 games with the Calgary Flames last season and has recorded 53 goals and 96 assists in 345 career regular season games.
After playing four seasons with the University of Alberta Golden Bears, Ryan spent four years competing in Austria and Sweden before signing with the Carolina Hurricanes.
He played three seasons with Carolina's organization before signing with the Flames in July 2018 and spending the last three years in southern Alberta.
Ryan posted a career-high 38 points in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound centreman has also won 55.4 percent of his faceoffs during his NHL career.
