(Edmonton, AB) -The Edmonton Oilers have signed five players to contracts: goaltender Mike Smith (UFA, 1 year), forwards Alex Chiasson (UFA, 2 years), Markus Granlund (UFA, 1 year), Tomas Jurco (UFA, 1 year) and Jujhar Khaira (RFA, 2 years).
Goaltender Mike Smith, 37, has just completed his 13th season in the NHL, appearing in 42 games for the Calgary Flames, with a 2.72 goals against average and a .898 save percentage. The 6'5", 220-pound goaltender also appeared in five post-season games for the Flames, posting a .917 save percentage and 3.20 goals against average.
