The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Darnell Nurse to a two-year contract.
Nurse, 23, appeared in 82 games with the Oilers last season, posting 26 points (6G, 20A), 67 penalty minutes and he led the Oilers with a +15 plus minus rating. He also ranked second in average time on ice (22:15), blocked shots (153) and ranked third on the team with 161 hits.

Nurse aims to up offensive production
The 6'4", 221-pound defenceman, has appeared in 197 career NHL games, recording 47 points (14G, 33A), and 160 penalty minutes. Nurse also played in 13 playoff games, notching two assists and six penalty minutes.
Nurse has played for Canada on several occasions, most recently at the 2018 World Hockey Championship, registering one assist and four penalty minutes in 10 games. He also won a gold medal at the 2014 World Junior Hockey Championship and the 2013 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.
He was originally selected by Edmonton in the first round, 7th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft.
