EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Patrick Russell to a one-year contract extension through 2020-21.
The 27-year-old winger recorded five assists in 45 games during the 2019-20 season and has played 51 total NHL games so far in his career.
The native of Denmark had a breakout season in the American Hockey League in 2018-19, scoring 18 goals and 22 assists in 51 games as a member of the Bakersfield Condors.
The Oilers signed the undrafted Russell to an entry-level contract in May 2016 after he completed two NCAA seasons at St. Cloud State.
The 6-foot-1, 203-pound forward also played one season of junior with Waterloo of the United States Hockey League after a four-year tenure with Linköping's U-20 and U-18 programs in Sweden.
Russell has also played internationally for Denmark, appearing in three IIHF World Championships, two IIHF World Junior Championships and two IIHF World Under-18 Championships.
