EDMONTON, AB -The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Ryan Murray to a one-year contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $750,000.
Murray appeared in 37 games for the Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche last season, recording four points (4A), four penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +4.
A veteran of 432 games, the Regina, Sask., native was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets with the second-overall pick in 2012 NHL Draft. He would go on to appear in 347 games for Columbus, tallying 15 goals and 95 assists through the 2019-20 season.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defender was traded to the New Jersey Devils in October 2020 and saw action in 48 games during the 2020-21 campaign before joining Colorado as a free agent last season.
Over the span of nine seasons, Murray has tallied 15 goals, 113 assists, 114 penalty minutes, 245 hits, 707 blocked shots and a plus/minus of +13 while averaging 19:37 TOI per game.
