EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers have agreed to terms with defenceman Slater Koekkoek on a one-year, $850,000 contract for the 2020-21 season.
The left-shot blueliner has played 149 career NHL regular season games, scoring seven goals and 22 assists, as well as 19 career playoff games, recording one goal and three assists.
His best offensive season came in 2019-20 as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks, as the 26-year-old tallied one goal and nine assists in 42 regular season games, followed by one goal and two assists in nine playoff appearances.
Koekkoek, from Winchester, Ontario, was selected 10th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning at the 2012 NHL Draft and returned to the Ontario Hockey League where he scored 15 goals and 38 assists in 62 games with the Windsor Spitfires during the 2013-14 campaign.
The 6-foot-2, 194-pound rearguard was an alternate captain with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch in 2016-17 and helped the Lightning's affiliate capture the Eastern Conference championship.
