EDMONTON, AB - Oilers defenceman Dmitri Samorukov suffered a broken jaw in the first period of Saturday's rookie game at Rogers Place versus the Calgary Flames.
At this time, the 22-year-old blueliner does not require surgery, but he is expected to be out six weeks. Samorukov was selected by Edmonton in the third round (84th overall) in 2017.
The Russian scored two goals and six assists in 48 games with CSKA Moscow of the KHL last season, one year after making his professional debut with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors, with whom he recorded two goals and eight assists in 47 games.
