PHOENIX, AZ -The Edmonton Oilers have placed goaltender Mike Smith on injured reserve and recalled goaltender Stuart Skinner from the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.
Smith has a 2-0-0 record this season with a 3.08 goals-against average and .920 save percentage. He left Tuesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks in the second period.
Skinner has a 2-0-0 record this season with the Condors, sporting a 1.50 GAA and .946 save percentage with one shutout. In 31 games with Bakersfield last season, the 2017 third-round draft pick went 20-9-2 with a 2.38 GAA and .914 save percentage with two shutouts. He also back-stopped the team to the Pacific Division post-season title.
The Edmonton native also recorded his first NHL victory last season with a 33-save performance in a high-scoring 8-5 triumph over the Ottawa Senators on Jan. 31.
After winning three consecutive home games to start the 2021-22 season, the Oilers will hit the road against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday and Vegas Golden Knights on Friday.
