Cup at the Indy 500

Hockey fans may have noticed a familiar face at the Indianapolis 500 qualifiers over the weekend.

Or maybe "face" isn't the right word.

The Stanley Cup made an appearance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to take in some IndyCar racing, and even stopped to see the Borg-Warner Trophy, given to the winner of the iconic Indy 500 race.

The Cup made some new friends over the weekend, some of whom have already been acquainted with the Borg-Warner Trophy. Motorsports Hall of Famer and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti posted a photo on Twitter with his family and the two trophies.

The Cup has been making a lot of new friends lately, as it

at Katz's Deli in New York City last week.

Marcus Ericsson, last year's Indianapolis 500 winner and a noted hockey fan, posted a photo on his

with both trophies.

Ryan Hunter-Reay, the 2014 Indianapolis 500 winner, had some fun at the track with The Cup as well, and has almost certainly been having fun watching these Stanley Cup Playoffs as a Florida Panthers fan. He has the Panthers logo placed prominently on the front of his racing helmet.

And of course, it's not a trip to the speedway without stopping to see the legendary bricks.

With forward Nate Pionk of the

hockey team -- the EHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks -- The Cup got its own taste of the Brickyard.

Now all The Cup needs to complete its Indianapolis Motor Speedway experience is a bottle of milk after the race.
