EDMONTON, AB - Team Canada is going for gold.
The host nation will get the chance to defend its World Junior Championship title on Tuesday after shutting out Russia 5-0 in Monday's semifinal with 27 saves from goaltender Devon Levi.
"There's a lot of pressure and a lot of emotion in this tournament and you want to be in the last game," said Team Canada's Head Coach Andre Tourigny. "You want to be part of something special and that last game will be something special. I'm really proud of everybody to have made it to this point... but we have a lot of business still to do."
Oilers 2020 first-round draft pick Dylan Holloway played 13:34 in the dominant victory and was his usual physical presence while also contributing three shots on goal.
Canada got goals from Alex Newhook, Connor McMichael, Cole Perfetti, Braden Schneider and Dylan Cozens in the win that puts them in Tuesday's gold-medal game against the United States.
