Stan Bowman

General Manager & Executive Vice President, Hockey Operations

His first season as Oilers President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, Stan Bowman, 51, began his tenure with the club on July 24, 2024 when he was named the 11^th GM in franchise history.

Bowman, a native of Montreal, QC, joined the Oilers after serving as General Manager of the Chicago Blackhawks for parts of 13 seasons (2009-21) helping the organization capture three Stanley Cups (2010, 2013, 2015), one Presidents Trophy (2013), three division championships (2010, 2013, 2017), two regular season conference titles (2013, 2017) and reaching 100 regular season points in six seasons.

Over his time as General Manager with the Blackhawks, his team’s compiled a record of 493-315-110 while adding another 71 postseason wins in 120 playoff contests. His 493 regular season wins during that span were the sixth most amongst all NHL teams.

Prior to taking over as General Manager of the Blackhawks in 2009, Bowman served in several different roles within the organization, including Assistant General Manager (2007-09), Director of Hockey Operations (2003-07) and Special Assistant to the General Manager (2000-03).

Internationally, Bowman served as General Manager for Team North America at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey where the team, consisting of players aged 23-and-under from Canada and the United States, finished with a record of 2-1-0 for a fifth-place finish at the tournament.

Prior to his career as an NHL executive, Bowman attended the University of Notre Dame where he graduated with degrees in finance and computer applications in 1995.

Bowman and his wife Suzanne have three children. He is the son of Hall of Fame coach and 14-time Stanley Cup champion Scotty Bowman.
