BROOKLYN, NY, December 13, 2016 - The 2017 National Women's Hockey League Skills Showdown will take place on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 4:00 pm, and the All-Star Game will begin at 3:00 pm on Sunday, Feb. 12, the league announced today. Both events will be at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, the state-of-the-art practice facility of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

. Additional fan-engagement activities during All-Star Weekend will be announced in the weeks to come.
The All-Star Game will be played 4-on-4. The teams will each have two goaltenders, four defenders and eight forwards.
The league also announced the All-Star selection process, which includes participation of the coaches, all-star captains, fans and media.
"All-Star Weekend is a showcase for the NWHL and women's hockey in the fantastic hockey community of Pittsburgh, so we wanted to make the player selection process fun and inclusive," said Commissioner Dani Rylan. "The response from the fans in Pittsburgh has been incredible since we announced the event last week. We're really looking forward to a great All-Star Weekend."

Now in its second season, the NWHL consists of four teams: the Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale and New York Riveters. The league's championship trophy is the Isobel Cup, which was won by Boston in 2016.
