"My wife Anna and I are proud to announce the 'I'm Score for Kids' program, supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities," said Evgeni Malkin. "When I signed this Summer, we wanted to do something in Pittsburgh and thought about the families that rely on RMHC. I have grown so much during my career here, and naming the program 'I'm Score for Kids' is a nod to the beginning, as well as a reminder for myself that this season, points are about more than hockey."
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Malkin made a monetary donation to the RMHC, enabling it to fulfill its entire pantry wish list and provide games for family entertainment. His donation was used to assist the organization to continue to provide daily hot meals and catering.
"We are grateful to have this incredible support from Evgeni Malkin. Families who rely on our services travel great distances to seek medical care for their sick child and his generosity will ensure they have the comfort and support they need while far from home. He is a true champion on and off the ice," said Eleanor Reigel, Chief Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown, Inc.
RMHC gives families who travel to get medical care for their children a place to call home. When families stay at the RMHC they are steps away from their sick child, and are able to receive warm meals, daily essentials and a safe environment. In 2021, 700 different families were served at the RMHC with a total of 13,716 nights of stay. Families from 47 different counties in West Virginia and 46 different counties in Pennsylvania, as well as seven countries, were cared for at the RMHC of Pittsburgh and Morgantown.
