Pittsburgh Penguins defensemen Justin Schultz underwent successful surgery at UPMC Presbyterian to repair a fracture of his lower left leg on Sunday, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Dharmesh Vyas, the Penguins' head team physician and Dr. Alex Kline.
Schultz is expected to miss the next four months. He suffered the injury in the first period on Saturday night when the Penguins played the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.
