The Pittsburgh Penguins have activated defenseman Jan Rutta from injured reserve, it was announced today by general manager Ron Hextall.
Rutta, 32, has appeared in 42 games with Pittsburgh this season and has recorded three goals, five assists, eight points and is plus-4. The Penguins have points in 64.3% of games that Rutta has dressed in this year (27/42).
The 6-foot-3, 204-pound blueliner has 280 games of NHL experience split between Chicago, Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh where he's accumulated 69 points (15G-54A) and is plus-50. The two-time Stanley Cup Champion (2020, '21) has 49 games of NHL playoff experience where he's notched 11 points (3G-8A).
The Penguins return to action today against the St. Louis Blues. Puck drop is set for 3:30 PM ET and the game can be seen on ABC and ESPN+.
