The Pittsburgh Penguins have activated forward Teddy Blueger off of injured reserve, it was announced today by General Manager Ron Hextall.

Forward Filip Hallander has been re-assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.
Blueger, 28, is coming off a successful 2021-22 campaign where he established career highs in assists (19) and points (28) in 65 games. He also tied his career-best goal total of nine set in 2019-20, and won a career-high 53.1% of faceoffs, which ranked second on the team.
The 6-foot, 185-pound Blueger also ranked third on the team in shorthanded time on ice (2:15) and first in shorthanded points (1G-1A), helping Pittsburgh's penalty killing unit finish third in the league (84.4%) last year.
A veteran of 205 NHL games, all with Pittsburgh, Blueger has registered 31 goals, 51 assists, 82 points, five shorthanded goals, four game-winning goals, and is plus-31. Since making his NHL debut, no Penguin has more regular-season shorthanded goals than his five. He also has 18 games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience, where he's picked up one goal and one assist.
Prior to making his NHL debut, Blueger spent parts of four seasons with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, where he served as an alternate captain in 2018-19. He picked up 115 points (49G-66A) in 179 AHL games, which included back-to-back 20-goal campaigns in 2017-18 and '18-19.
The Penguins take on the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at PPG Paints Arena for the team's annual 'Hockey Fights Cancer' Awareness Night. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM.
