The Pittsburgh Penguins have agreed to terms with forward Matt Nieto on a two-year contract, it was announced today by President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas.

The contract will run through the 2024-25 campaign and carries an average annual value of $900,000 at the NHL level.

Nieto, 30, split the 2022-23 campaign between the San Jose Sharks and Colorado Avalanche, recording 12 goals, 12 assists, 24 points and two game-winning goals in 81 games. His 12 goals were the second-highest total of his career, and his 24 points were three shy of his career high of 27 set in 2014-15.

The 5-foot-11, 187-pound winger has played 10 NHL seasons split between Colorado and San Jose where he's suited up for 651 regular-season games, registering 85 goals, 114 assists, 199 points and 12 game-winning goals. He has 62 games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience where he's notched 21 points (8G-13A) and is plus-11.

Prior to being drafted by San Jose in the second round (47th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, Nieto played three seasons of collegiate hockey at Boston University from 2010-13 where he recorded 102 points (44G-58A) in 115 games.

A native of Long Beach, California, Nieto spent two years with the U.S. National Team Development Program from 2008-10 along with now teammate Bryan Rust, and took home a gold medal at the 2009 and '10 World Under-18 Championship.
