Hope is on the horizon - or, to be more precise, at PPG Paints Arena.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are teaming up with UPMC to provide vaccines at the building's F.N.B. Gate along Centre Avenue at a special community clinic on Monday, March 15.

The event, which will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., is by appointment only for those who meet the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Phase 1A criteria and are pre-registered through UPMC's website,
Vaccine.UPMC.com
.Registering now guarantees you will get a vaccination as soon as more become available.
The Penguins are equipped to help, they want to help, and they are ready to work together with UPMC to do whatever they can to guide Pittsburgh forward from the COVID-19 pandemic.
"UPMC is not only a valued partner to us, but also to the Pittsburgh community," said Penguins president and CEO David Morehouse. "The Penguins have the space at PPG Paints Arena and the experience to accommodate large groups efficiently. With UPMC's guidance, we already have trained workers and strict anti-COVID cleaning protocols for the limited fans that have been coming to our games. Together with UPMC's experts, we can help to distribute the vaccine at a quicker pace, and more safely to those who need it most."
UPMC has already administered over 230,000 doses of the vaccine - averaging around 22,000 per week - and the expectation is that this number will increase by hundreds of thousands in the coming weeks. They will be receiving more doses in the next three weeks than they have received in the past two months.
The Penguins and UPMC teaming up to make this influx of doses more accessible to the Pittsburgh community will help get life back to normal faster. It will help the businesses around PPG Paints Arena and the rest of the city get back on their feet, and will help get the best fans in hockey back inside the building at full capacity when it is safe to do so.
"We're really excited about the partnership between UPMC and the Pittsburgh Penguins," said UPMC Children's Hospital President Mark Sevco. "We are grateful for the Pens' generosity to offer their arena and space to UPMC to offer vaccine to community members."
This will be the first of multiple events scheduled between UPMC and the Penguins. There is a possibility that the next one could happen as soon as Wednesday, March 17 at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry.
"We will do great work at PPG Paints Arena and the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex over the next weeks," Sevco said.
