Player Essentials: P.O Joseph

The 24-year-old defenseman shared some of his must-haves, both on and off the ice, at home and on the road.

Nike clothes and shoes

I've always liked Nike, probably because of Tiger Woods back in the day, and now they've started to bring more streetwear clothes into their brands. I like the sports and fashion side of the new Nike. There's a lot of Nike, but also a lot of Jordan clothes and shoes, that I really like. From the Dunks and Air Jordans to the golf shoes, I just really like them all!

Bucket hats

I wear bucket hats to practice and the guys tease me about it (laughs), but that's just me. For so much in life, I just tell myself to just be me, and people will enjoy it or they won't. … I just love to be myself through my clothes. And it's funny because when I go shopping with my friends, they are like oh, you've got to buy that. That's just you. They know what I like.

Headphones

I need music, so my headphones, my AirPods. I'm such a mood person in life in general. Same for music. I learned to enjoy listening to country music when I was (playing junior hockey) in the Maritimes. I am a big hip hop guy… rap, of course… I love EDM music, dance music… also indie folk. I love Spotify. They are there for me. I just search something, and they have it. It's the best thing ever. Spotify probably knows me better than I know myself.

PlayStation 5

I take it everywhere. I play Call of Duty or PGA. I also take my Bose speaker. I need my speaker; I bring it on the road all the time. I have two, a big one and then a smaller one for travel.

Candy

Lindt's assorted chocolates with all the different colors, so I can just pick five that are different and just have five in a row. Also, SourPatch Kids are a must.

Framed photo

Funny thing, I actually have a framed photo of my billet sister Hannah as a child that my billet mom put in my room at one point. I was like, who's this? Then I left with it, and I still have it. I bring it everywhere. It's in my desk at home, actually. It's funny.

Blanket

It's a pink one, so people notice it, like why do you have a pink blanket for? I used to play video games a lot, and my billet family would be like, you need something comfy for your feet! They just had it, so I started using it, and now I literally go everywhere with it. I don't go on the road with it, but I bring it to Pittsburgh.

Cologne

I have three different ones right now that I switch depending on the occasion. They're 1 Million (by Paco Rabanne), Yves Saint Laurent and Burberry.

Brush

I used to always have a comb, but now it's my hairbrush.
