Tokarski, 33, has appeared in two games with Pittsburgh earlier this year, going 1-1-0 with a 2.67 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. At the AHL level, he has suited up for 20 games with WBS this season, going 9-6-4 with a 2.27 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and one shutout. His goals-against average and save percentage both rank fourth in the AHL. Tokarski won his 200th career AHL game on Nov. 25 against Lehigh Valley, becoming just the 16th netminder in league history to accomplish this feat.
The 6-foot, 198-pound netminder has 78 games of NHL experience over parts of eight seasons split between Tampa Bay, Montreal, Anaheim and Buffalo where he's gone 23-33-12 with a 3.12 goals-against average, a .902 save percentage and two shutouts. He also has five games of Stanley Cup Playoff experience with the Canadiens in 2014.
Gruden, 22, has appeared in three NHL games with Pittsburgh this season, including his NHL debut on Jan. 15 against Anaheim. With WBS, he's tallied 11 goals, five assists, 16 points and is plus-2 in 32 games. His 11 goals are an AHL career high and rank third on the team behind only Alex Nylander (17) and Valtteri Puustinen (16).
The 6-foot, 172-pound forward is in his third professional season where he's notched 57 points (27G-30A) in 139 AHL games. He's appeared in five AHL playoff games, accumulating three points (1G-2A).
Gruden was originally drafted in the fourth round (95th overall) by the Ottawa Senators in the 2018 NHL Draft and was acquired by Pittsburgh with a 2020 second-round draft pick in exchange for goaltender Matt Murray on Oct. 7, 2020.
