Joseph, 23, spent the majority of the 2021-22 season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, setting career highs across the board with 10 goals, 23 assists and 33 points in 61 games. His 10 goals led all team defensemen, while his 23 assists and 33 points were second to only Juuso Riikola.
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defenseman also suited up for four games with Pittsburgh in 2021-22, recording seven shots. Joseph has skated in 20 career NHL games with Pittsburgh since the 2020-21 season, tallying one goal, four assists and five points.
The defenseman has played 136 career AHL games with the WBS Penguins since turning professional during the 2019-20 season, recording 14 goals, 49 assists and 63 points. In addition, he has skated in six playoff games with WBS, tallying five points (1G-4A).
A native of Laval, Quebec, Joseph played a four-season junior career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Charlottetown Islanders (2015-18) and Drummondville Voltigeurs (2018-19). In 235 career QMJHL games, Joseph recorded 29 goals, 111 assists and 140 points. He served as Charlottetown's captain during the 2017-18 and '18-19 seasons, and alternate captain in '16-17.
Originally drafted by Arizona in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Joseph was acquired by the Penguins on June 29, 2019 in a five-piece deal that included Phil Kessel being sent to the Coyotes.
