Angello, 24, broke into the NHL in 2019-20 appearing in eight games with Pittsburgh, including his NHL debut on January 31 against Philadelphia. He recorded his first career NHL goal on February 18 vs. Toronto.
At the American Hockey League level in 2019-20, Angello had 25 points (16G-9A) in 48 games, while his 16 goals tied his AHL career high and also tied for first among all Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins skaters.
In 115 career AHL games, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Angello has recorded 32 goals, 22 assists and 54 points with a plus-6. Since turning pro at the beginning of the 2018-19 campaign, no player has scored more goals for WBS than Angello.
Prior to his time in the Penguins' organization, the Albany, New York native enjoyed a standout three-year college career with Cornell University, where he recorded 70 points (36G-34A) and a plus-31 in 102 career contests. He was a double-digit goal scorer and 20-point producer in all three of his seasons at Cornell.
Before joining Cornell, Angello skated for two seasons with the Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League. He was a USHL Scholar-Athlete Award winner in 2013-14.
Originally drafted by the Penguins in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Angello represented Team USA at the 2014 World Junior-A Challenge, where he helped the Americans take the gold. Angello finished that tournament tied for second on the team in scoring with five points (2G-3A) in four games.
