The 5-foot-11, 176-pound Simon has played in five career NHL games with Pittsburgh over the previous two years, collecting a pair of assists. During both the 2016 and '17 Stanley Cup championship runs, Simon practiced with the 'Black Aces.'
Simon, a native of Prague, Czech Republic, has played two-plus years in the AHL with WBS, totaling 110 points (43G-67A) and a plus-14 in 158 regular-season games. He has added five points (1G-4A) in 12 playoff contests. Simon's best season came as a rookie in 2015-16 when he led the team with 25 goals, and recorded 48 points, in 68 games.
Pittsburgh originally drafted Simon in the fifth round (137th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft.
