The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Vinnie Hinostroza to a one-year contract, it was announced today by President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas.

The contract runs through the 2023-24 season and carries an average annual value of $775,000.

Hinostroza, 29, spent the 2022-23 season in the Buffalo Sabres organization, splitting time between the Sabres and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Rochester Americans. With Buffalo, the forward recorded two goals, nine assists and 11 points in 26 games. In 11 games with Rochester, he tallied five goals, four assists and nine points.

The 5-foot-10, 183-pound forward has played parts of eight seasons in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks (2015-18; '21), Arizona Coyotes ('18-20), Florida Panthers ('20-21) and Sabres ('21-23). In 360 career games, Hinostroza has registered 53 goals, 95 assists and 148 points. He has also added two assists in eight career playoff games.

His best NHL season came in 2018-19 with the Coyotes when he recorded career highs across the board in games played (72), goals (16), assists (23) and points (39).

The 2018 AHL All Star has played in 120 career AHL games with Rochester and the Rockford IceHogs, tallying 35 goals, 56 assists and 91 points.

Prior to turning professional, Hinostroza played two seasons for the University of Notre Dame from 2013-15. In 76 career collegiate games, he recorded 19 goals, 57 assists and 76 points and was teammates with Bryan Rust in '13-14. He also played three seasons in the United States Hockey League with the Waterloo Black Hawks from 2010-13, tallying 53 goals, 73 assists and 126 points in 151 USHL games.

The Chicago, Illinois native represented Team USA at the 2014 World Junior Championship and the '16 World Championship.

Hinostroza was originally drafted in the sixth round (169th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks.
