Lafferty, 23, wrapped up a four-year college career at Brown University this week. The senior was Brown's team leader this year in assists (14) and points (22), and his eight goals were second on the club.
A native of Hollidaysburg, Pa, which is located near Altoona, Lafferty ended his season on a roll offensively. He had three assists in his final two collegiate appearances, and in his final 11 college games, he produced 13 points (4G-9A). Lafferty was the ECAC Player of the Week two weeks ago after notching a hat trick in a win against Harvard.
Late last week, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound Lafferty was named Second-Team All-Ivy for the second-consecutive season. An alternate captain as a junior and senior, Lafferty had 79 points (29G-50A) in 124 career college games.
The Penguins originally chose Lafferty in the fourth round (113th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft.
